For Philippe de Villiers

Sir,

You are for Charrette, I am for Robespierre and dare I add: etc.

Boss/worker, Solzhenitsyn/Lenin, we can write a volume about them.

Born on December 1, 1950, I am registered at Renaissance and, retired, I go to conferences of almost all parties.

I heard you last night during a program explaining your point of view on Ukraine or rather on peace and war in Ukraine.

You are the only one who does not make peace the issue of war but who poses peace as equal to war and therefore capable of directing it.

You establish, on the one hand, the question of the primacy of one or the other and you conclude with the primacy of the first over the second in the political debate, and on the other hand, the duality of peace in the Peace of Munich and the Peace of Westphalia.

This is exactly what I explained in a Pacem in Europa text.

In a long format, September 10, 2023, and a short format, September 26, 2023.

You can read them on my blog: madic50.blogspot.com.

You arrive at this logic of primacy and duality through Mazarin. Which allows you to place peace in the continuity of European state history.

I managed to formulate them by watching a documentary dedicated to Jean Daniel in which a Cuban leader says all the good things he thinks of a speech by Kennedy on June 11, 1963.

This is contemporary with Pacem in Terris (April 11, 1963) by Pope John XXIII from which I borrow the title.

The text that I publish is explicitly in reference to the logic of President Kennedy. The long text is even a commentary. I add this text to mine.

Everything indicates that the peoples concerned, although powerless to envisage anything other than the logic of war, want peace.

We see this as well by the difficulties of the Ukrainian government in recruiting, or even maintaining its stock of soldiers, as by the obstacles encountered by the European and American governments in fueling the war, or by the difficulties of the Russian government in fueling its front. and to move from the force of the special operation to war.

The ranting from each side serves the opposite camp well.

The war is a new ruin for Europe and this time it will not recover.

There are therefore two of us who think according to the same logic of the primacy of peace over war and the duality of peace. The others, all the others who express themselves, subordinate peace to war. Including the “Peace Movement” They make the primacy of peace a Munich and real peace a consequence of war and its famous “victory” even if it means that of the atomic explosion.

Doesn’t the opposition in everything that separates us indicate that the question of the primacy and effectiveness of peace transcends these oppositions?

On the occasion of the European elections, we could envisage the constitution of a “Westphalian movement” based on the primacy and effectiveness of peace and the intangibility of the 1945 borders.

Pétain's opponents only dreamed of the day when they could finally tear each other apart to impose the true cross. They organized themselves to create the Liberation and leave it at that.

Can’t we “Baby Boomers” do the same?

Remaining at your disposal,

I thank you for your attention and please accept, Mr. Philippe de Villiers, the assurance of my distinguished greetings,

Marc SALOMONE
